Primal Anne’s Log Earth Date 5/7/2012

Breakfast: seednutola with raspberries and milk; 2 x hard boiled eggs with cold roast pork

Lunch: steak, sauerkraut, grilled tomato, flat mushroom

Supper: pork rillettes and cold pork with salad

Snacks: beef jerky, yogurt with manuka honey

Beverages: lemon juice in water (1), black tea & milk (several), coffee with cream (1), water (2), red wine (1)

Hunter/gathering: 2 x thick slices of rump steak (for jerky), tray of rump steak and 2 x packs soup bones from Reynold’s Butcher van

In the kitchen:

    • Curing: belly pork (making bacon)
    • Fermenting: sauerkraut
    • Air-drying: leg of pork (making air-dried ham)
    • Dehydrating: beef jerky

In the garden:

    • Picking: raspberries
    • Tomato Blight has arrived. Hardly suprising given the wet weather of recent weeks but disappointing as the flowers have only just started to appear on the plants. When the blight arrives later in the season I find that by removing diseased leaves and keeping the plants well fed we usually manage to get some fruit. But this year isn’t looking very promising. I removed the infected leaves and will continue to do so but more in hope than expectation of the plants surviving long enough to bear fruit.
