Primal Anne’s Log Earth Date 21/6/2012

Food:

Breakfast: pork patty, fried egg, tomato, mushrooms

Lunch: chicken with turnips, mashed cauliflower

Supper: rib-eye steak, sauerkraut, asparagus, carrots

Snacks: cocoa and avocado ‘mash’ with raspberries

Beverages: lemon juice in water (1), black tea & milk (several), coffee with cream (1), water (2), dandelion tea (1)

Hunter/gathering: found coconut water in the chilled cabinet at Waitrose in Wimborne. Coconut water can be used for whole body rehydration after exercise. Bought a couple of cartons for PrimalMan to drink instead of the poisonous sports drinks.

Bought a piece of rump steak for making jerky, some rib-eye steak to eat and minced beef from Reynolds in the Street Market.

Watching the pennies: Bought a copy of  “The Thrifty Forager” by Alys Fowler for £4.99 (RRP £16.00) in the ‘The Works’ Outlet bookshop. Unfortunately I got caught in the rain on the way home and although the book was in a bag it got a bit soggy. Just as well it was for me and not a present for someone else.

In the kitchen:

    • Curing: leg of pork (making air-dried ham)
    • Dehydrating: Beef Jerky (double batch so, PrimalMan please note, I won’t be making more next week!)
