Breakfast: Homemade no grain granola with fresh raspberries and blueberries and crushed brazil nuts, one boiled eggs & lemon juice in water. I learnt later in the day that brazil nuts have the highest phytic acid content of all the nuts and are better off consumed alone (read why). I regularly soak almonds and walnuts to remove phytic acid but never have with Brazil nuts. I have seen some websites which say Brazil Nuts don’t need soaking. That would seem not to be the case so it’s fortunate that I rarely eat them.
Lunch: Pork Rillettes, salad with wild garlic, coconut flax bread & organic butter
Supper: Chili beef with mashed cauliflower and baby broad beans fresh from the garden (trying to make eating poisons sound less well, er, poisonous!)
Snacks: Raspberries, beef jerky
Beverages: Coffee & cream (1), black tea & milk (several), water (1)
Exercise: Move around a lot at a slow pace:
Awoke to a glorious sunny morning and as we were both free we seized the opportunity to finally get over to Pamphill to stroll through the bluebell woods. The bluebells had already peaked and although the woods were still a glorious sight that ‘WOW’ factor and heady perfume were missing.
There was also lot of wild garlic in the woods and hedgerows. I picked a few leaves from the verge to include in our lunchtime salad.
We passed by Pamphill Dairy Farm Shop which sells local products and Pamphill Butchery which sells beef from the surrounding National Turst Kingston Lacy Estate and free range pork and lamb from Dorset farms. In the farm shop we bought a couple of pieces of cheese (I chose Dorset Blue Vinney and Primal Man selected Innkeeper’s Choice with pickled onions and chives – he’s suspicious of anything with mold!). We also bought a piece of beef skirt (frozen) from the Butchery.
Sleep: Deficient. Bedtime has been creeping later and wake-up time has been getting earlier (a common problem in the summer). Awoke today before it was light so estimate only around 4 hours sleep. I wasn’t the only one awake though… the blackbird was singing beautifully (he doesn’t always… he has a phrase that sounds like an ambulance siren. I think that he must have grown up near the hospital!)
Play: Yoga practice.
Sunlight: Yes! 🙂
Avoid trauma: Yes.
Avoid Poisons: Ate some broad beans (why you shouldn’t and why fresh green beans and peas aren’t as bad as dried). Baking powder used for Paleo Bread contained corn starch & chemicals.
Use your mind: Blog entries; Read (currently reading “Primal Body, Primal Mind” by Nora T. Gedgaudas);Taught Yoga class; learned how to enter a destination address in a SatNav.
Primal Challenge (avoid using p.c. after 7pm): Yes. Not difficult as I never use p.c. after 6pm on a Wednesday anyway!
